About the artist
Home created several well known works in South India, including "The Hostage Princes leaving home with the Vakil, Ghulam Ali" and "Lord Cornwallis Receiving Tipu Sahib's Sons." In November 1792, he connected with artists Thomas Daniell and William Daniell, drawing inspiration to further paint landscapes. By 1795, he was in Calcutta, expanding his portfolio and making substantial contributions to the local art society. He moved to Lucknow in 1814, becoming court painter for Nawab Ghazi-ud-Din Haider, before journeying to Kanpur in 1827. He died in 1834.
