About the artist
A master of botanical watercolour painting, Pierre Joseph Celestin Redouté, a French artist and Illustrator (1759-1851) is often recognised as one of the most significant influences in the genre. A botanist himself, Redouté left an indelible mark on the art scene with a publication containing 144 colour plates of flowers, some of which even included insects. His work displayed a tremendous variety, with over 1800 different species meticulously depicted in his finessed floral illustrations.
