About the artist
Augusta Innes Withers (1822-1906) was an English painter and illustrator. She was born in London and studied at the Royal Academy of Arts. She was a member of the Society of Female Artists and exhibited her works at the Royal Academy and the British Institution. Augusta was known for her landscapes, portraits and genre scenes. She was also a successful illustrator, producing illustrations for books and magazines. Augusta was a respected artist in her time and her works are still admired today.
