About the artist
At fifteen, George's first visit to the East Neuk in Fife spurred a fascination with its quaint fishing towns, distinctively different from any other places he'd known. He became committed to artistically capturing these unique villages, famous for his distinctive depictions of their architecture, alleys, and harbours. His paintings, though not of actual locations, are a compilation of diverse memories.
Using both oil and mixed media, George emphasises line and pattern with contrasting colours. He also uses monochromes for nuanced interpretations of tone, depth and weather. He occasionally applies these techniques to capture the distinct light, colour, and pattern of southern France.
George's artwork is displayed in UK galleries nationwide, with regular exhibits at the Strathearn Gallery. When he's not creating art, he's an avid musician, owning several guitars and playing in various bands.
