About the artist
She utilises traditional tools and methods, meticulously hand-colouring handmade Japanese papers to establish her distinct colour palette. Fiona transforms preparatory sketches into repeating patterns, with all designs manually drafted, devoid of computer assistance.
Fiona's inspirations range from Japanese art and 50s textiles to Indian woodblock prints and the works of designers like Lucienne Day and William Morris. Unconventional sources like antique fairs, beach combing in Cornwall, and even friend's gardens serve as her muse.
Fiona has frequently displayed her work at 'Made', Brighton's Design and Craft fair and the Brighton Art Fair, amongst other venues. Her commitment to her craft over three decades is evident in her finely refined skill for repeating patterns, especially in lino printing.
