About the artist
He began his career in Le Havre, where his frame shop attracted artists, including Jean-Francois Millet, who nudged him towards painting. Boudin's self-taught style Corot, with nature serving as his classroom. He primarily painted small-scale scenes of northern France's harbors and beaches. Around 1856, Boudin met Claude-Oscar Monet, mentoring him in outdoor painting. They would sunsequently collaborate in the late 1860s.
