About the artist
Robert Doisneau (14 April 1912 – 1 April 1994) was a French photographer well known for his candid shots of everyday life in Paris. He was a master of the humanist style, capturing the beauty of the everyday and the joy of life. His work was heavily influenced by the Surrealists, and he was a member of the Rapho photographic agency. Doisneau was married twice and had four children. He was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1984 and the Grand Prix National de la Photographie in 1990.
