About this artwork
This exceptional print draws its inspiration from a colorfully printed, manually refined stipple engraving called Rosa centifolia : Rosier à cent feuilles. This masterpiece was engraved by Langlois, who was active in the 1800s, and was originally conceptualised by Pierre Joseph Redouté, who lived between 1759 and 1840. The source of this work is P. J. Redouté's collection, Choix des plus belles fleurs, which was released in sections in Paris. Each section included four plates and the publication spanned from 1827 to 1833. This particular piece is from Plate 121.
