About the artist

Devon-based Mark Jessett is a versatile artist, specializing in abstract art, which includes drawing, painting, and collage. He is an alumnus of Goldsmiths’ College, where he studied Fine Art.

In his works, Mark scrutinises the interplay between colour, texture, and the contrast of translucency and opacity. His unique style involves using basic shapes, overlaid with meticulous details and characterised by his signature colour scheme. His creativity takes flight on paper, crafting intricate abstracts.

A majority of his artwork finds its roots in fantasy minerals and suggestive forms, featuring elements like emblematic shapes and imaginary minerals. Mark's work stands as a celebration of make-believe and escapism, vibrant, hopeful paintings that draw on folkloric and pedagogical motifs for inspiration.

Discussing his relationship with paper as a medium, Mark says, "I used to view paper merely as a canvas, but now I perceive it as an active participant in my artwork.
