About this artwork

Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a Scottish artist, architect, and designer, was a key figure in the Art Nouveau movement called Modern Style, which was unique to the UK. Back in 1911, he created a menu design for a tearoom in the Glasgow Exhibition center. Mackintosh mirrored his architectural design principle of using geometric systems in the linear patterns of the menu. There's a nod to his love of Art Nouveau in the floral theme featuring a lady holding a rose.
