About this artwork

This is an authentic fine art litho poster brought to you by Tate. In the 1980s, Milroy created several paintings that featured objects meticulously arranged against a plain backdrop. The light bulbs in this piece seem to be thoughtfully categorised, revealing the subtle differences between designs that might appear identical at first glance. However, the true intention behind this orderly display remains unknown. Devoid of any context or indication of their function, the bulbs just seem like everyday items, possibly symbolizing a focus on mass-production and consumerism.

Express service for unframed print and posters by Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive the next working day for an additional cost. Framed prints are always shipped by express courier.

UK - £3.95 for unframed items by 1st Class Packetpost
UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery
UK - £8.95 for framed items.

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.
International - Unframed by Registered AirMail or by premium express courier (select at checkout).
Very large prints are always sent by express service.

About the artist

Lisa Milroy, an alumna of St Martin’s School of Art, London (1977-1979), and Goldsmiths College of Art, London (1979-1982), focused on painting commonplace and household items post-graduation. Her work typically featured these items arranged in orderly rows or designs against stark backgrounds, emphasizing their generic qualities over their individual characteristics in a neutral setting.

Milroy's artwork has a unique way of breathing life into lifeless objects. This not only amplifies their presence in the painting but also accentuates the brush strokes themselves.
