About the artist
Leonetto Cappiello , born in Livorno, Italy on 9 April 1875 and died in Paris, France on 2 February 1942, was an Italian poster artist and painter. He is considered the father of modern advertising and is known for his bold style and use of bright colours. He was influenced by the Art Nouveau movement and was a master of caricature. He was also a successful lithographer and book illustrator. He was a member of the Italian Futurist movement and was a major contributor to the development of the Art Deco style.
