About this artwork

Katsushika Hokusai, a Japanese artist and printmaker from the Edo era, was particularly skilled in Ukiyo-e, a traditional Japanese art genre. This printing method was a team effort involving the artist, carver, printer, and publisher, each focusing on a different aspect. Hokusai's standout work is his woodblock print series, 'Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji'. The most iconic piece from this collection is 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa'. It captures a massive wave menacing three boats near the shoreline of Sagami Bay, with Mount Fuji towering in the distance.

Express services:

Express service for unframed print and posters by Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive the next working day for an additional cost. Framed prints are always shipped by express courier.

UK - £3.95 for unframed items by 1st Class Packetpost
UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery
UK - £8.95 for framed items.

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.
International - Unframed by Registered AirMail or by premium express courier (select at checkout).
Very large prints are always sent by express service.
International - Framed by premium express courier (select at checkout).

About the artist

Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was a Japanese artist and ukiyo-e painter and printmaker of the Edo period. He was influenced by Chinese painting and developed the ukiyo-e style, which focused on landscapes and the daily life of the Japanese people. Hokusai was a prolific artist, producing over 30,000 works during his lifetime. He is best known for his series of woodblock prints, The Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, which includes the iconic Great Wave off Kanagawa.
