About the artist
Audubon gained recognition for his exhaustive research on all kinds of American birds, and his intricate illustrations showcasing them in their natural environment. His primary work, The Birds of America (1827–1839), a colour-plate book, is regarded as one of the most exceptional ornithological pieces ever accomplished. He also discovered 25 new species.
The National Audubon Society honors his name, as do many U.S. towns, neighborhoods, and streets. Numerous scientific names first introduced by Audubon continue to be utilised by the scientific world.
