About the artist
John Frederick Miller (1759-1796) was a British artist known for his botanical illustrations. Born to artist Johann Sebastian Müller (1715-approx. 1790), he and his brother James, brought to life sketches from James Cook's inaugural voyage, made by Sydney Parkinson. In 1772, Miller joined an expedition to Iceland led by Joseph Banks. He's best known for publishing 'Cimelia Physica', a collection of rare and curious quadrupeds, birds, and elegant plants, in 1796, featuring written contributions from George Shaw.
