About this artwork

Jasper Johns, an American artist known for his painting, sculpture and printmaking, is predominantly linked with abstract expressionism and pop art. Back in 1961, Johns brought to life 'Map', an oil on canvas artwork that mirrors the sizes and forms of the US states. The state names and oceans are all stencilled in, and the entire piece is brought to life with a vibrant use of paint.

UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.

About the artist

Jasper Johns (born May 15, 1930 - present) is an American painter and sculptor who is considered one of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century. He is associated with the Pop Art movement and is known for his use of everyday objects and materials in his works. Johns was born in Augusta, Georgia and raised in South Carolina. He studied at the University of South Carolina and the Parsons School of Design in New York. His works are often characterised by their use of bright colours and bold shapes. Johns has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the National Medal of Arts in 1990.
