About the artist
Inspired by his upbringing in Kent, the 'Garden of England', James Knowles produces vivid and large-scale floral oil paintings. His global travels and exhibits, from Canada to Spain, also influence his colourful, hyperrealistic artworks, revealing his deep fascination with nature. From an early age, Knowles felt drawn to the arts, nurturing his creative talents at a South East England Art College in the late '70s. His early works captured the innocence of childhood, reminiscent of time spent in an English country garden. Although his style has dramatically evolved since then, his passion for painting remains steadfast. Empowered by experience and familiarity with his tools, he explores creativity freely, capturing fleeting moments often overlooked by others. His wide-ranging subjects reflect his persistent curiosity, and his works stand as timeless expressions of his life's passions.
