About this artwork
Steve McQueen, also known as the 'King of Cool', was an American actor who was born on March 24, 1930, and died on November 7, 1980. His anti-hero image became popular during the counterculture movement of the 1960s. A well-known picture of him was taken during the filming of the 1968 action thriller 'Bullitt', where he took on the role of Police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt.
