About this artwork
Ginger Rogers, who was born on July 16, 1911 and died on April 25, 1995, was a well known American actress, dancer, and singer. She made her mark during Hollywood's Golden Age and is widely recognised as an American icon, thanks to her lead roles in numerous films and musicals. One of her noteworthy performances was in the 1937 musical comedy 'Shall We Dance'. In the film, Rogers portrayed the well-known tap dancer Linda Keene, who also happened to be the love interest of Peter Peters, a character played by Fred Astaire.
