About this artwork

This excellent print was inspired by an ink sketch of Magnolia x soulangeana, created by none other than Graham Stuart Thomas. Back in the mid 1940s, Thomas was a key player at Sunningdale Nurseries and also played a pivotal role as a Gardens Advisor to the National Trust, starting from 1955. Fast forward to the 1960s, he was honored with the prestigious Veitch Memorial Medal and the Victoria Medal of Honour. In 1975, he was graced with an OBE recognition. G.S.Thomas is universally acclaimed as a horticulturist, a master of roses, an author, and artist.

Express service for unframed print and posters by Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive the next working day for an additional cost. Framed prints are always shipped by express courier.

UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery
UK - £8.95 for framed items.

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.
International - Unframed by Registered AirMail or by premium express courier (select at checkout).
Very large prints are always sent by express service.

About the artist

Born in Cambridge, Graham Stuart Thomas OBE (1909-2003), is revered as an iconic figure in the realm of horticulture. A man of many talents, including gardening design, writing, painting, and even music and poetry, Thomas spent thirty years advising the National Trust on gardens. His contributions earned him the Order of the British Empire in 1975. With a penchant for writing, he penned several acclaimed books such as 'Old Shrub Roses', 'Perennial Garden Plants', and 'Plants for Ground Cover'. Apart from the OBE, Thomas, a holder of the esteemed Victoria Medal of Honour, also received the Veitch Memorial Medal and Gold Medal from the Royal Horticultural Society for his artistic contributions.
