About the artist

Eugene J. McInerney, better known as Gene McInerney, was born on January 6, 1930, and died on February 14, 2018. His talent as an artist was largely self-developed and his expertise with oil, acrylic and watercolour mediums won him nationwide recognition.

Gene found inspiration for his artwork in the simple things around him - people, places, and objects - in the rural areas of eastern Pennsylvania. His life-long dedication was to present ordinary things in an extraordinary manner. His works conveyed a sense of nostalgia and a poignant reflection of the past. The detailed, jewel-like surfaces of his compositions showcased his command over his chosen mediums.

Gene's artwork was shown in many exhibits and collections across the United States. Prestigious places like New York's Uptown Gallery and the Salmagundi Club featured his paintings. His work also graced the pages of various publications like The Artist's Magazine, and won several awards in national juried exhibits.
