About this artwork

Fintan Whelan's painting approach is defined by a sense of immediacy in his methods and a pressing vision that he's refined over many years. Even though it may seem like his work is the result of fortunate accidents, Whelan's technique actually demands consistent evaluation, gauging and experimentation with pigments and their arrangements, along with varnishes, oils and several other materials. His abstract pieces are universes that draw out a wide range of emotional and cognitive reactions, which we, as the audience, are tasked to decipher.

Unframed prints are usually shipped on the next working day if ordered before 2pm. Framed items can take one or two working days longer with our experts in the framing workshop.

Express services:

Express service for unframed print and posters by Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive the next working day for an additional cost. Framed prints are always shipped by express courier.

Shipping Fees:

UK - £3.95 for unframed items by 1st Class Packetpost
UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery
UK - £8.95 for framed items.

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.
International - Unframed by Registered AirMail or by premium express courier (select at checkout).
Very large prints are always sent by express service.
International - Framed by premium express courier (select at checkout).

About the artist

Born in 1967, Dublin-based abstract artist Fintan Whelan is known for his grand mixed-media artworks featuring oils, varnishes, and pigments on canvas. He studied at the Dun Laoghaire School of Art and the Dublin Institute of Technology in both Art and Design and Graphic Design.

His pieces are infused with elements from nature and landscapes, and reflect his personal exploration of curiosity and creativity. He skillfully manipulates texture, light details, form, and movement to echo his experiences. Whelan's commitment to perpetual experimentation and application of new materials and techniques is fundamental to his evolving art practice.
