About the artist

British artist Duncan Grant, born on January 21, 1885 in Rothiemurchus, UK, gained recognition for his expressive portrayals of people, still lifes, and landscapes. Influenced by Post-Impressionism, Paul Cézanne's sculptural forms, and Roger Fry's naturalism, Grant attended Westminster School of Art before studying in Paris under Jacques-Émile Blanche. Back in London, he joined the Bloomsbury group, collaborating with Vanessa Bell and Roger Fry at Omega Workshops. Grant's work saw a resurgence in the 1960s and is now held in prestigious institutions like the Tate Gallery, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Portrait Gallery. He died on May 8, 1978 in Aldermaston, UK at 93.
