About the artist
Dick Bruna, a Dutch artist and author, gained fame for his extensive collection of children's books, featuring more than 200 titles. His most well known creation, Miffy (Nijntje), a simple rabbit depicted with bold lines, basic shapes, and primary colours, captured the hearts of many. Bruna's creative talents also extended to designing book covers, posters, and promotional materials for A.W. Bruna & Zoon, his father's publishing company. Notably, his distinctive artwork adorned the covers of the Zwarte Beertjes series, including the iconic silhouette of a pipe on diverse backgrounds, characterizing Simenon's Maigret books.
