About the artist
Dan Weiner, born in New York City in 1919, studied painting at the Art Students League and Pratt Institute. In 1940, he joined the Photo League, which exposed him to the history of documentary photography. During World War II, he discovered the 35-millimeter camera and focused on photojournalism. In the 1950s, he collaborated with his wife on features for magazines. Weiner documented social issues and covered events like the Montgomery bus boycott. Tragically, he died in a plane crash in 1959. His work was exhibited and included in prestigious collections worldwide.
