About the artist
Charles Pears was an English artist and illustrator, best known for his maritime paintings. He was born in 1873 in London and studied at the Royal Academy of Arts. He was a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of British Artists. His works were exhibited in galleries across the UK and Europe, and he was awarded the Royal Academy Gold Medal in 1921.
