About the artist
Austin Cooper was a Canadian artist and illustrator who was born in 1856. He is best known for his illustrations of Canadian landscapes and his work in the Arts and Crafts movement. Cooper was a founding member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and was instrumental in the development of the Graphic Arts in Canada. He was also a member of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers. Cooper's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across Canada and the United States.
