About the artist
Scottish artist Anna Katrina Zinkeisen, a Royal Academy Schools scholarship recipient, won the Landseer Award in 1920 and 1921. She later served as a ceramics designer for Wedgwood, and created murals for the RMS Queen Mary and RMS Queen Elizabeth with her sister Doris. During World War II, she skillfully balanced working in St Mary's Hospital's casualty ward and painting in an unused operating theatre. Her work spanned from ceramics and murals to pathological and clinical drawings.
