About this artwork

Back in August 1962, Andy Warhol started using photographs transferred onto silkscreens to create his art. Silk-screening was key to Warhol's work, allowing him to reproduce images and reflect the era he lived in. One of his well-known series, Death and Disaster, kicked off with well known portraits of Marilyn Monroe, created shortly following her passing. He then moved onto darker and more shocking images like car accidents, electric chairs, race riots, and even a gangster's funeral, drawing inspiration from mainstream newspapers and magazines. Warhol once remarked on the transient nature of life, saying, "Aren't our lives just a series of images that evolve as they're repeated?"

UK - £6.90 for unframed items by Royal Mail Special Delivery

International - Shipping is calculated before you check out according to destination.

About the artist

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture, and advertisement. Warhol's art used many types of media, including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. He was also a pioneer in computer-generated art using Amiga computers. Warhol's life and work were marked by controversy, his open embrace of celebrity culture, and his collaboration with many of the leading artists of his time.
