'Industrial Panorama' was painted by L.S Lowry who is recognised for his portrayals of busy industrial scenes in the north of England filled with stylised figures. However, later on in his career Lowry turned his attention to vast empty landscapes, including this desolate view of an industrial centre. Lowry has focused on the drabness of the landscape rather than inhabitants which characterised his earlier work.
